Wake Forest Football Cracks Top 25

The Wake Forest football team returned to the Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday, Oct. 28, checking in at number 21.
The Deacons are 6-2 on the season after Saturday's 37-10 win over North Carolina. Wake Forest has won six straight games and will play at Virginia on Nov. 3.
Wake Forest is tied for 21st place in the AP poll along with Boise State. Each team received 259 points from the voting media members. Boise State owns a 7-1 record.
"It is fun to be ranked," said Wake Forest head coach Jim Grobe. "It makes you feel good but there are a lot of games yet to be played.
"The important thing for our football team is how we finish the season. We have a lot of work left to do."
This is Wake Forest's first appearance in the AP Top 25 since the end of the 2006 season when the Deacons were ranked 18th. Last year, Wake Forest posted an 11-3 record, won the ACC's Atlantic Division with a 6-2 mark and defeated Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship game to advance to the FedEx Orange Bowl.
In the USA Today Coaches poll of Oct. 28, the Deacons are also receiving votes. Their 115 points places them 28th in the nation.
In 2006, the Deacs made their first poll appearance in the AP poll, debuting at number 25 on Oct. 15, 2006. Wake Forest broke into the coaches poll on Oct. 30, 2006 with a number 23 ranking.
