Demon Deacons Host Charlotte Thursday Night

WINTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will host the Charlotte 49ers this Thursday at the Joel Coliseum beginning at 7 p.m. in the Demon Deacons' second game of the season.
On Tuesday the Deacons (1-0) defeated USC Upstate (0-2) 58-51. Junior Corinne Groves was the leading Wake Forest scorer, putting up 15 points through her 23 minutes on the court.
The Charlotte 49ers (0-3) have dropped the first three contests in the team's challenging non-conference schedule. On November 9 Charlotte opened its season against No. 20 Pittsburg at the WBCA Classic in University Park, Pa. where Pitt pulled out an 85-68 win. The 49ers followed with a 73-67 loss to Penn State and an 86-77 overtime to loss Arizona.
Junior Danielle Burgin recorded two double-doubles in the 49ers' season opening tournament. The Asheville, N.C. native put up 12 points and pulled down 12 boards against Pitt and topped the numbers with 13 rebounds and 20 points facing Penn State.
Last season, Charlotte finished 19-13 and for the year with a 9-5 mark in the Atlantic 10.
