CARY, N.C. - A second half goal by Austin da Luz gave the Wake Forest men's soccer team a lift, but at the end of the final game of the ACC Championship No. 1-seed Boston College came out on top 2-1.

The No. 2-seed Demon Deacons (17-2-2) will now hang tight for the NCAA Selection Show, set for Monday evening on ESPNews.

Wake Forest out-shot the Eagles 15-3, but BC goalkeeper Chris Brown, who boasts a 6-5, 225 pound linebacker frame, came up big with four saves.

"I'm very happy the way our team ended the game," Wake Forest head coach Jay Vidovich said. "We just dug ourselves too big of a hole to dig ourselves out against a very organized team."

Boston College (13-4-1) notched a first half goal in the 37th minute when Sherron Manswell beat Wake goalkeeper Brian Edwards in a one-on-one situation at the net. The goal was Sherron's 11th of the season.

After the halftime break, the Deacs came out with renewed energy but were stunned when BC's midfielder Mike Konicoff pulled off a clean shot in the 47th minute to give the Eagles a 2-0 advantage.

In the 61st minute Lyle Adams headed a direct shot into the BC goal, but Brown was there to make the catch and send the ball back in Eagle possession.

Team assist leader Austin da Luz scored the only Demon Deacon goal in the 69th minute finishing a corner kick by defender Evan Brown.

"When you are down 2-0 the biggest thing is to get that first goal that can change your momentum," da Luz said. "We got the goal and we changed the momentum but we ran out of time. If we had had a few more minute things might have been different."

Wake Forest had four other corner kicks in the match, but failed to convert.

The tournament title was the first ever for Boston College and followed up the team's first regular season conference championship. BC has been the only team on the 2007 WFU schedule to defeat the Deacons. When the teams met in Chestnut Hill on October 27, the Eagles handed the Deacons their first loss of the season (1-0).
