EVANSTON, Ill. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team picked up a win in the Windy City with a 60-45 over Northwestern in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday night.

Junior Alex Tchongoue had a season high 18 points and led the Demon Deacons (6-1) in rebounds with eight. Mekia Valentine also had a season high points total, going five for seven from the floor and two for four from the charity stripe for 12 points.

The Demon Deacons took the lead with 12 minutes to play in the first half and the Wildcats (2-5) were unable to regain an advantage for the rest of the contest. Head Coach Mike Petersen used the opportunity to give six players off the Wake bench minutes in the Big Ten matchup.

Sophomore Jessie Cain made her second appearance of the season, pulling one board and putting up one assist. Freshman Camille Collier logged a season high 25 minutes . Redshirt junior Sarah Riddle pulled three rebounds in four minutes in her third game of the season.

Tchongoue hit a buzzer-beater from beyond the arc to put the Demon Deacons with a 33-18 advantage with two minutes into the second half. The Deacons led by as much as 19 points, but a layup by Wildcat Meshia reed cute the Wake advantage to 15 points at the final buzzer.

Wake will return to action its own Joel Coliseum on Sunday to host Rice at 1 p.m.
