Louis Frazier Named Academic All-America

Wake Forest senior offensive tackle Louis Frazier has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America first team.

Frazier is the first Demon Deacon football player to be named first team Academic All-America since 1959 when Aubrey Currie and Larry Fleisher earned the honor. The last Deacon named to the All-America team was tight end Phil Denfeld who was a second team selection in 1982.

Frazier was the only Atlantic Coast Conference student-athlete named to the first team. Georgia Tech defensive lineman Darryl Richard was a second team selection.

Frazier, a senior from Clearwater, FL (Clearwater) is a biology major with a 3.76 grade point average. He will graduate from Wake Forest in May with a degree in biology and minors in chemistry and sociology. Frazier is Wake Forest's starter at left tackle and has graded out at 85.9 percent on the season with 42 knockdown blocks. Frazier is a two-time member of the Academic All-ACC team and was an Academic All-District 3 honoree in 2006 and 2007. He is a member of the Dean's List and Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society. Frazier has been accepted to Wake Forest University Medical School for next year.

Frazier has been a four-year member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll and was selected as the 2006 receipient of the Edwin G. Wilson Student-Athlete of the Year award. He was also named the Outstanding Senior Male Scholar-Athlete in 2006.

Off the field, Frazier has served as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and was selected to attend the NCAA National Leadership Conference. He is a member of Beta Beta Beta, the biology honor society and has also been selected to Golden Key International Honour Society.

To be nominated for the Academic All-America team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore starter or significant reserve on their team with a 3.20 cumulative grade point average.
