With the loss...
- Wake Forest drops to 4-1 overall.
- The Deacons fail to win five straight games to open the season for the second time in the past four seasons.
- Head Coach Dino Gaudio moves to 4-1 at Wake Forest and 72-125 in his eighth season overall as a head coach.
- Wake falls to 5-2 all-time against Charlotte, marking the Deacons' first loss to the 49ers since Feb. 15, 1986.
- The Deacons drop to 87-62 all-time against Atlantic 10 competition.
- Wake Forest falls to 407-466 all-time against teams from the state of North Carolina.
- Wake Forest is 1,367-1,040 in its 102nd season of basketball.
Miscellaneous
- Wake Forest lost the opening tip for the fifth straight game.
- The Deacs have hit at least one three-pointer in 495 straight games.
- Wake turned the ball over a season-high 22 times.
- Wake Forest's last loss to a non-conference opponent from the state of North Carolina came on Feb. 2, 2000, when the Deacs fell at Davidson, 54-49, in overtime. Wake had won 18 straight meetings with non-conference opponents from North Carolina.
- Tonight marked the first time this season that Wake Forest has trailed in the second half. The only other time the Deacons have trailed this year was when Iowa scored the first bucket of the game on Monday.
Junior Harvey Hale
- Made his first three-pointer since Nov. 19 against N.C. Central. Hale had missed eight straight three-point attempts until he hit a three at the 10:13 mark in the first half.
- Scored in double figures for the second time this season and the 19th time in his career.
Sophomore L.D. Williams
- Scored in double figures for the fourth time this season and the 17th time in his career.
Sophomore Ishmael Smith
- Led the team in assists for the fourth time this season and the 30th time in his career.
Sophomore Chas McFarland
- Set a new career-high with four blocked shots (three of which came in the first half). His previous career-best was three, set on Monday at Iowa.
Freshman James Johnson
- Posted his second double-double of the season.
- Scored in double figures for the fourth time this season.
- Had double figure rebounds for the second time this season.
