| Preview: | Fresh off a convincing 72-56 defeat of Bucknell on Sunday, Wake Forest is set to host the University of South Florida on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The matchup between the Demon Deacons and Bulls can be seen live on ACC Select. Wake Forest comes in at 6-3 on the year following its win against perennial mid-major power Bucknell. Jeff Teague, who was named the ACC Rookie of the Week on Monday, led the Deacons with 16 points and four steals. James Johnson had his four-game double-double streak snapped, finishing with seven points and 12 rebounds. The Deacs used a strong second-half surge to power past the Bison. Wake broke a 45-45 tie with a 10-0 run midway through the period. The Deacons shot 51.9 percent from the field in the second period and made 11 of their 15 free throw attempts in the stanza. South Florida comes to Winston-Salem red-hot, having won seven straight contests. USF started the year with three straight losses but has since gone on its longest winning streak in 25 years. The Bulls have been off since Dec. 8 when they took down UAB, 68-58, in Tampa. Dominique Jones led the team with 25 points, while Kentrell Gransberry turned in a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds. Gransberry was three blocked shots away from a triple-double. The Deacons will be looking to avenge last season's loss to the Bulls. USF defeated Wake, 75-67, on Dec. 29 at the St. Pete Times Forum. South Florida leads the all-time series 2-1. |
| Next Up: | Wake Forest will begin ACC play on Sunday against Virginia Tech. The matchup with the Hokies, set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m., will be broadcast on FSN's Sunday Night Hoops. The Deacons will then take a week off for the holidays before hosting Air Force on Dec. 30. |
