Wake Forest concluded its final on-campus football practice on Monday morning as the Deacons prepare for Saturday's Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium against the Connecticut Huskies.

Head coach Jim Grobe and his staff put the Deacons through a 90 minute practice on Christmas Eve morning. The team will depart for Charlotte at 2:00 p.m. on Christmas Day.

"We had a pretty good practice," said Grobe. "The guys are excited about playing again. It's good to have finals behind us and we can concentrate on playing football.

"But (as a coach) you're always nervous about how you're going to play in a bowl game. Your preparations are different after having a month off and you never know which team will show up in the bowl game."

The Deacons will practice on Wednesday and Thursday in Charlotte while also making a visit to Levine Children's Hospital on Wednesday morning. Both UConn and Wake Forest will be treated to a visit to Lowe's Moter Speedway on Thursday. Media sessions and the kickoff luncheon are scheduled for Friday in advance of Saturday's game.
