
Deacons Host Longwood on December 30

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will end competition in the 2007 calendar year on Sunday, December 30 with Longwood at 5:30 p.m. at the Joel Coliseum. The game is the second half of a WFU doubleheader, which kicks off with a 2 p.m. with a contest featuring the Wake Forest men's team and Air Force.
The Demon Deacons are 11-2 heading into the last contest before conference season begins. Last week the Wake Forest women picked up wins over the College of Charleston and Winston-Salem State, outscoring both opponents by an average of 38 points. In the 70-39 WSSU victory, Wake's lone senior Christen Brown landed her first career double-double, with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Guard Alex Tchangoue leads the Deacons in scoring through the first half of the season, averaging just under 12 points per game. The junior, who attended high school at Winston-Salem's Forsyth Country Day School, is also the team's leading rebounder, with an average of 8 per game. Sophomore Tiffany Roulhac has the assist count for the Deacs, with a stunning count of 56 for the first part of the season.
The Longwood Lancers will enter Sunday's contest with a recent 2-2 performance through a four-game homestand. Most recently, the squad fell 64-48 to VCU, in addition to defeating Gardner-Webb and UNC Greensboro in Farmville, Va.
5-8 senior guard Keiva Small is the leading Lancer scoring, averaging nearly 16 points per game. Small also leads the squad in rebounding with 5.5 per game, assists (4.5 per game), assists (23) and blocks (9).
The game will be Wake Forest's last contest before diving head first into the always challenging ACC season. On January 3 the Deacons will host Maryland at 7 p.m.
