Preview:

Wake Forest is set to close out the year 2007 by hosting Air Force on Sunday at 2 p.m. The rematch of last year's game played in Colorado Springs will be broadcast on Fox Sports South.

The Deacons will be out for revenge after the Falcons handed them their most lopsided non-conference loss of the modern era on Nov. 29, 2006. Air Force shot 60.0 percent from the field to rout Wake Forest, 94-58. The setback sent the Deacs, who entered the game undefeated at 5-0, on a four-game losing streak.

Wake enters this season's matchup 8-3 overall and riding a three-game winning streak. The stretch includes a stunning 77-75 defeat of Virginia Tech last weekend in the Deacons' ACC opener. Ishmael Smith's game-winning buzzer beater capped a 10-0 run over the final 1:22 to give Wake the win.

Smith led the Deacs with 18 points, three assists and three steals. Jeff Teague turned in 15 points, and James Johnson added 13.

Wake Forest had to play most of the game in foul trouble, as Virginia Tech went to the line 32 times. The Hokies made 29 of the 32 attempts.

The win was Wake Forest's 11th straight victory at Joel Coliseum, which ties the Deacs for the longest current home court winning streak in the ACC.

Air Force comes to Winston-Salem with a record of 8-4 overall. The Falcons have been off since defeating Colorado Christian, 75-61, on Dec. 22 at Clune Arena. The win was Air Force's third straight. Tim Anderson leads the Falcons with 13.2 points per game, while Andrew Henke is the team's leading rebounder at 4.8 per game.

Next Up:

Wake Forest will ring in the New Year against Presbyterian on Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. The Deacons will then host nationally-ranked BYU in Wake's last non-conference game on Jan.8 at 7 p.m. Wake Forest will return to ACC play at Boston College on Jan. 12.
