Wake Forest will hit the road this week for a pair of games against SEC competition. The Demon Deacons will first face No. 23-ranked Vanderbilt on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports South. The Deacs will travel to the University of Georgia on Saturday.

The Deacons enter the week 5-1 overall after picking up a 72-48 defeat of USC Upstate on Saturday. James Johnson led Wake with his third double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Harvey Hale and Chas McFarland chipped in 12 points apiece.

The Commodores, who entered the Top 25 this week, come in with a perfect 7-0 mark. Vanderbilt is ranked 23rd in the Associated Press Poll and 25th in ESPN/USA Today Poll.

Vanderbilt is coming off a 92-79 defeat of ACC foe Georgia Tech on Saturday in Nashville. Shan Foster and A.J. Ogilvy led Vandy with 17 and 16 points respectively. The Commodores shot 54.7 percent from the field.

The all-time series between Wake Forest and Vanderbilt is tied at 4-4. Last season, the Deacs took down the `Dores 88-78 at Joel Coliseum. The last time the teams met in Nashville was on March 14, 2000, when Wake earned a 83-68 win on its way to the NIT Championship.

Wake Forest will be facing its first ranked opponent of the season. The last time the Deacs defeated a ranked opponent on the road came on Jan. 22, 2005, when Wake downed No. 20 Cincinnati 74-70.

Next Up:

Wake Forest will continue with its SEC road week, traveling to the University of Georgia on Saturday. The Deacons and Bulldogs will square off at 1 p.m. Wake will be looking for revenge after last season's 87-86 loss to Georgia on Dec. 2 at Joel Coliseum. The Deacons will then be off for finals week before hosting Bucknell to start a six-game homestand on Dec. 16.
