Wake Forest Head Coach Jay Vidovich
On a quick goal in OT...
"For sure if it's on the positive side, it was just great, I was very happy, we challenged them going into the overtime period with 'are we the team that we think we are'. If so, we made a couple tackle changes, and they just did a great job with it and the finish was just great with Austin."
On Austin's spark...
"He's given us a big spark off the bench, he's done a tremendous job, and he brings us a tremendous amount of energy, he's very skillful and he's just done a great job with it. He's been a great addition."
On getting back to the College Cup...
"It's tremendous, the last time we played and got into the College Cup we played during Thanksgiving weekend and there wasn't any students here, the crowd was all having Turkey dinner hangovers, and to have a crowd like this with people supporting us was just tremendous and to see the ball go in and the reaction from the crowd and our players was just tremendous."
Marcus Tracy, Wake Forest Junior Forward
On his assist...
"I took the ball down the flank initially and found that they cut off my line so I was just going to cut it back and try to get a cross off, we talk about getting into the box and that's where we're going to get our best opportunities. A couple guys made runs into the near post and I saw Austin hanging out far post and he yelled for it so I just tried to put it in and give it to him on his feet, he turned and gave it a great shot."
On playing Virginia Tech...
"I think its good having another common opponent, we know what they have. They gave us a tough one during the season but I think it's going to be a great match up for us because we did get to play them earlier this year."
Austin da Luz, Wake Forest Sophomore Midfield
On his reaction...
"I'm speechless right now I'm sorry."
On the crowd...
"That crowd was just unbelievable so be able to celebrate with them was just a real pleasure and there's no better feeling than that."
On dominating the Overtime...
"These are situations we practice everyday, like I said last game we don't panic and we know it's coming so we just have to keep at it and we finally found one."
Notre Dame Head Coach Bobby Clark
On their performance...
"Obviously disappointed with the final result, but it was a fun night it was a great environment here at Spry Field tonight; a great game, a very good game. I think Wake Forest is a very good team, and all I can say now is that I wish them well in the Final Four. I think they're a very good team, arguably one of the best teams we've played this year. I was very impressed with them here tonight."
On the final goal...
"I didn't see very much my old eyes don't pick that up anymore, I'll have to look at it in the video. I thought we had a hard time in the first half, and their pressure was just terrific. I thought we found it very hard to get a rhythm into our game, and we just found it very difficult. But I think the second half we got a hold of things and we actually out-shot them over the second half. I thought we really had it, you know thought we caught them in the corner and I was feeling fairly confident going into the overtimes but we never really got started again in the second overtime I felt they got a hold of it and carried most of the play in the first over time."
Joseph Lapira, Notre Dame Senior Forward
On ending his career...
"I didn't want to think about it but then again it's been a great career, I couldn't say anything more about the underclassmen and the seniors I've been playing with for four years. Coach Clark he took me from being pretty much nothing, to last year having a tremendous season and even this year coming up and bringing us to our highest ranking ever as number two, that's our highest ranking ever and a huge accomplishment for the program, we've made a bunch of strides."
On the atmosphere...
"It was a great atmosphere I always love it, I try to look as goofy as possible if you can't tell so that all the fans will yell at me and not my teammates that's pretty much the idea behind that. But it was a great atmosphere, we usually draw pretty good crowds at away games, maybe more so than our home games, but it's a great atmosphere either way."
On Wake's defense...
"The first half they pretty much shut us down, our plan was to get the ball into the corners, and we didn't do that very well, they were pressuring us hard and we didn't get that. But we came in at halftime and we talked about it and we said that's what we needed to correct and we needed to do better on giving away silly fouls. Maybe we did that a little bit in the second half but we got balls in the corner, we got our chances, got a few corner kicks, and a few shots of goal."
On his corner kicks...
"I miss-hit one or two of those, not how I would have liked to hit them but we got a chance or two out of it and we didn't put it away."
On Wake winning the tournament...
"I sure hope they do, I hope no on else does. I wish them the best of luck."
