Wake Forest vs. Clemson
Wake Forest heads south of the state border on Thursday for its second contest against Clemson this season. The Demon Deacons are looking to avenge a 73-57 loss to the Tigers at home on Jan. 5. Wake enters the game 9-15 overall and 0-10 in the ACC. The Deacs have lost four straight after a 77-45 setback to top-ranked Duke on Sunday. The Tigers are 11-14 overall and 3-7 in conference play. Clemson is riding high after a 73-69 home win against Virginia Tech on Sunday. The victory was the Tigers' second in their past nine games since downing the Deacs in early January.
Last Meeting - Jan. 5, 2007
Clemson defeated Wake Forest 73-57 early in the new year in a RSN-televised matchup. The Tigers used a 12-2 run to break open a close game midway through the first half. After trailing by six at the break, Wake out-scored Clemson 9-2 to start the second period and take a 33-32 lead. The Tigers followed with an 11-2 run that would give CU the lead for good. Wake committed 23 turnovers but out-rebounded Clemson 37-32. Alex Tchangoue posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Yolanda Lavender scored a game-high 19 points, while Corinne Groves finished with eight points and eight rebounds.
Last Time Out
The Demon Deacons are coming off a 77-45 loss at home to top-ranked Duke on Sunday. After trailing by 15 at halftime, Wake Forest opened the second period with a 9-2 run to pull within eight, 37-29. The Blue Devils, however, responded with a 16-3 run to take a commanding 53-32 lead. The Deacs would not get any closer than 18 from that point on. Duke opened the game on a 9-1 run before the Deacons hit their first field goal at the 14:42 mark. Duke scored 15 points off Wake's 14 first-half turnovers.
Next Up...
The Demon Deacons will return home to face Boston College on Sunday, Feb. 18. at 3 p.m. The conference matchup will be broadcast live on ACC Select. Wake Forest will then travel to No. 2/2-ranked North Carolina on Thursday, Feb. 22. The Deacs wrap up regular season play with Florida State at home on Feb. 25.
