WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest freshman Kaley Fountain was one of 29 players selected to participate in the USA U-20 National Training Camp at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
The first training camp under new head coach Jill Ellis will take place Feb. 4-11, 2007. The camp will be the first step in formulating a U-20 National Team roster to navigate qualifying games. The team will attempt to earn one of three CONCACAF spots at the 16-nation 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Chile.
The national team will also compete at the Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in July 2007.
Fountain and the other 28 hopefuls will follow a rigorous schedule that includes training sessions, physical testing and multiple matches.
Fountain, a native of Austin, Texas, was named to the 2006 ACC All-Freshman team. The forward played in all 23 matches last fall, recording two goals and two assists.
