CHARLESTON, S.C. -
The Wake Forest men's soccer team won their second match of the spring exhibition season on Wednesday evening, defeating the Charleston Battery of the USL First Division, 3-0. The victory is also the second for the Deacs this spring over a professional team, having already defeated the Carolina RailHawks of the same league.
Wake got on the board first with a goal from sophomore Sam Cronin in the first half. After freshman Cody Arnoux was taken down inside the box, Cronin put in the ensuing penalty kick opportunity to go ahead 1-0.
The Deacs made it 2-0 when sophomore Michael Lahoud worked a combination with freshman Zack Schilawski that resulted in the second goal of the game. Freshman Austin da Luz made the scoreline 3-0 with his first goal of the spring season off an assist by Lahoud.
The win improved the Deacs to 2-1-1 this spring. Wake's next matches will come at the spring ACC Tournament at the SAS Soccer Complex in Cary, N.C. on April 21.
