CHICAGO -
Former Wake Forest men's soccer player Michael Parkhurst is among the 23 players named by U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley to the United States' roster for the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Parkhurst, the 2005 MLS Rookie of the Year with the New England Revolution, is still awaiting his first U.S. cap. He was called into the first two national team camps of 2007, but did not see action in any of the squad's four games this season. This season, the Revolution is 4-1-1 with him on the field after he missed the team's first three games of the season with a shoulder injury.
The CONCACAF Gold Cup will be played June 6-24 in six cities across the country. The United States is the defending champion of the biennial event, having won the 2005 title.
The U.S. begins Group B play at 9 p.m. ET on June 7 against Guatemala at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., before playing their second group match there at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 9, against Trinidad & Tobago.
The U.S. will play its final Group B match in Foxborough, Mass., at 7 p.m. ET on June 12 against El Salvador in the first game of a special Gold Cup doubleheader. The United States could also play its quarterfinal-round match at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, June 16, should the team finish first or second in Group B. All three of the U.S.' group matches will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel and Telefutura.
