COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Former Demon Deacon standout Michael Parkhurst helped anchor the MLS defense in a 2-0 shutout over Scotland's Celtic FC in the Sierra Mist 2007 Major League Soccer All-Star contest.
The match marks Parkhurst's second MLS All-Star invitation and victory. In Parkhurst's first All-Star contest in 2005, the MLS squad defeated Fulham FC of the English Premier League 4-1 in Columbus, Ohio.
During his rookie season with the MLS New England Revolution, Parkhurst played every minute of every game and missed just two games in 2006. Soccer America named the former Deacon defender to the 2006 MLS Cup Playoffs Best XI and the MLS recognized Parkhurst as the 2006 U.S. Soccer Foundation Humanitarian of the Year for his service work.
While at Wake, Parkhurst became a two-time NSCAA Second-Team All-America member and was voted ACC Defender of the Year as a junior.
