RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - After a spectacular 2-1 semifinal victory over Canada, the U.S. Women's National U-20 Team fell 5-0 to Brazil in the Pan Am Championship match.
"Competing in this Pan Am Games has been a privilege for our players," said U.S. head coach Jillian Ellis. "This is a young team and one cannot beat the experience of playing Brazil in Maracaña Stadium in front of a packed house. Brazil had an exceptional level and style of play that contributed to their great success. We will learn from all of it."
Rising Wake Forest sophomore Kaley Fountain earned her fourth Pan Am start at the contest. The defender has started in all but two contests with the U-20 squad.
