WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's soccer team will return to Spry Stadium Wednesday night to host Louisville following a disappointing weekend at the Hawthorne Suites Hokies Invitational in Blacksburg, Va.
The Deacons (2-3-0) will look to rebound from two tournament losses to Loyola (Md.) and No. 13 Tennessee last Friday and Sunday.
Louisville is currently 4-0-0, with the most recent win over Butler in Louisville. Freshman Kelsey Hunyadi leads the Cardinals in scoring, posting two of the team's six goals for the season.
The Cardinals had their most successful season to date last year, earning an invitation to the NCAA tournament for the first time in the program's history. The Cards were ousted in the second round of the tourney by Duke, who edged the team 6-5 in sudden death penalty kicks for the win.
The Deacons are 1-1 vs. ranked opponents, with a win over No. 23 Long Beach State and a loss to No. 13 Tennessee.
So far in 2007, the Deacon charge has been a complete team effort. Five team members have posted goals this season, including Allie Sadow, Caitlin Farrell, Amy Smerdzinksi, Jill Hutchinson and Sarah Winslow. Assist have been credited to Amanda Lebo, Sarah Winslow, Samantha Germano and Kaley Fountain.
Goalkeepers Laura Morse and Amanda Barasha have also split minutes in the net.
