No. 1 Wake Shuts Out Clemson in ACC Opener

CLEMSON, S.C. - The top ranked Wake Forest men's soccer team shut out Clemson 1-0 in the ACC Opener Friday night in South Carolina.

The win sets the Deacs at 6-0-0, tying their 1984 record of consecutive victories to start a season. Clemson now sits at 3-4-0 for the year.

Sophomore Cody Arnoux netted his fourth goal of season in the 34th minute to seal the Demon Deacon victory. Corben Bone and Marcus Tracy registered assists in the game-winner.

Tracy led the offensive charge, firing six shots with two shots on goal. Overall the Deacs out-shot the Tigers 23-11 in the conference opener.

WFU goalkeeper Brian Edwards was credited with his third shutout of the season, bringing his career total to 34.

The Deacs will have a full week off before returning to WFU's Spry Stadium to face ACC competitors Maryland on September 29.
