WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's soccer player Jill Hutchinson has been tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for totaling five points on two goals and one assist to help the No. 23 Demon Deacons finish the week with a 2-0-0 mark and stand 5-3-1 for the season.
In Friday's 2-0 victory against Brown, Hutchinson (Lancaster, Pa., Conestoga High School) assisted on the game-winning goal and followed up with a long range goal of her own. At No. 18 West Virginia on Sunday, the sophomore forward netted the final goal and tallied two points in the 2-1 win. With the win the Demon Deacons became only the second team to defeat the Mountaineers at home through WV's last 23 home games. The win also marks the Deacons' highest ranked victory of the season.
Hutchinson now leads the Deacons with five goals for the season, including two game-winners. Hutchinson's game-winning goal assist in the Brown contest was her first of the season, bringing her current point total to 11 through nine contests.
Last week, Hutchinson was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week, following her two goals vs. Louisville and UNC-Greensboro.
Hutchinson shares the ACC Player of the Week honors with Duke sophomore CJ Ludemann who led the Blue Devils to a pair of victories in the Duke Adidas Classic last weekend.
