BLACKSBURG, Va. - The No. 24 Wake Forest women's soccer team will look to match recent back-to-backs wins at the Hawthorn Suites Hokie Invitational this weekend at Virginia Tech.
On Friday afternoon the Deacons will face Loyola (Md) at 12:30 p.m. and wrap up the tourney with No. 13 Tennessee on Sunday at 11 a.m.
After dropping the season opener to San Diego, the Deacons (2-1-0) followed with shutout wins over Pepperdine and No. 23 Long Beach State.
Loyola (0-2-0) will fight for their first win of 2007 at the Hokie hosted tourney. The Greyhounds were picked to finish at the top of the Mid Atlantic Athletic Conference this season and have an incredible 44-1 record vs. MAAC teams in the regular season since 2002.
The Lady Vols (2-0-0) are enjoying a perfect season to date. Angela Kelly's squad had a season opening upset at the Lady Vol Classic, defeating No. 7 Penn State 2-1 in Knoxville. Tennessee and Wake last clashed in 2005 at the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Lady Vols defeated WFU 5-2.
