Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest University men's soccer tournament will get underway Friday night at 5 p.m. with North Carolina and Bradley, followed by No. 1 Wake Forest vs. No. 16 Akron.
On Sunday Akron and North Carolina will play at 12 p.m. while Wake and Bradley will wrap up the tourney at 2:30 p.m. All games will be played at the Demon Deacons' Spry Stadium on the WFU campus.
The Deacs (2-0-0) opened the season with the title win at the Nike Carolina Classic in Chapel Hill over Labor Day weekend. Last Friday, the Deacons defeated then-No. 21 Old Dominion 2-1 and shutout the Monmouth Hawks 2-0 on Sunday.
Cody Arnoux, Corben Bone, Evan Brown and Pat Phelan earned spots on the All-Tournament team for their efforts.
Sophomore Cody Arnoux currently leads the squad in scoring, posting two goals for the season, both coming vs. Monmouth. Brown and Bone have produced the other two goals for the season.
Friday night's contest vs. Akron will be the Demon Deacon's first top 20 match-up of 2007. The Zips currently stand undefeated through two contests, including a season opening upset over No. 10 New Mexico in Akron. Akron midfielder Anthony Ampaipitakwong was named MAAC Player of the Week for his game-winner in the New Mexico contest.
On Sunday, the Deacs will meet Bradley, of the Missouri Valley Conference, for the first time in the program's history. Bradley's 2-0-0 season start is the team's best since 2003.
