Head Coach Mike Petersen

On Wake Forest's 0-2 start in the ACC
"This is two games in a row now where our opponent has really dictated how we are going to play. Clearly we've taken some steps in the wrong direction as a team. This one really got away from us."

On Virginia's 24 points off Wake Turnovers
"In the first half they had 17 points off our turnovers. You're going to make some turnovers in a game but you just can't throw it to them. That happened on far too many occasions."

On Wake's low shooting percentage
"Shooting the ball isn't something you can make better by yelling at it or putting more pressure on it. That part of the game gets better when you relax a little and we haven't been doing that."

Virginia Head Coach Debbie Ryan

Thoughts on the game
"I think that we had a great effort defensively and that is where we anchored our day today. We were a smaller team than they were but I think we held our own out there. Wake Forest is a very much improved defensive team; just a much improved team all around. They are playing well together and I knew this was going to be a tough battle because they are more physical than they've been in the past. I was very pleased to be able to come out and play in such a dominating way."

On the Virginia run early in the first half
"Yeah, I was real pleased with our effort and the way we attacked defensively to start the game. I thought that was the most important thing. I knew that we would have to do that to establish ourselves on the road because sometimes your shots don't fall. You've got to put your effort on the defensive end and hope you create some offense for yourself and we did."

On Monica Wright's performance
"She took really good shots today. She was finding her spots and running the floor well and her teammates found her. I think she did just a great job today."
