WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Junior forward Zack Schilawski was named a first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American on Wednesday morning, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Schilawski is one of three forwards to make the first team. The team was selected by a nationwide vote of members of CoSIDA. Thirty-three men's soccer players were named Academic All-Americans, including 12 earning first-team distinction.

A native of Cary, N.C., Schilawski currently holds a 3.65 grade point average with a major in biology. Schilawski, who earned ESPN The Magazine All-District honors in 2007, has been named to the Dean's List all four semesters of his college career and is a two-time member of the ACC All-Academic Team.

Schilawski has seen time in all 20 games for Wake Forest this season, helping the team to an 18-1-1 record and a No. 1 ranking all season long. He is ranked third on the team with eight goals and has also added four assists. In 2007, Schilawski scored the game-winning goal in Wake's national title victory over Ohio State. For his career, Schilawski has 23 goals and 12 assists.

To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's games, be of sophomore standing athletically and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3.
