Head Coach Dino Gaudio
"It was a good win for us coming out here and playing Fullerton which is just up the road and have played games here in the arena. In these things it is just win and advance and we were fortunate to do that. Our guys played hard and when they made a run we kept our composure and did what we needed to do. Despite not shooting free throws well, missing 14 of them, we made some big ones down the stretch to keep a cushion where it was. I was proud of our guys for that."
"Our defense has been good pretty good. They made some tough threes, really tough threes, and as long as we were contesting them and are up on those guys that's all we can do. This was a good win for us."
"We want to play fast. We got a cushion for ourselves in the first half when we were running and that's how we like to play. The pace early was our pace and their zone slowed us a bit, but we got some fast break points and were able to build a cushion when did that."
"L.D. (Williams) did a good job on Josh Akognon, who is a really good player. L.D. is one of the better defenders in our league and always draws the toughest assignments."
Sophomore Guard Jeff Teague
Coach told us in the huddle to stay focused and keep our composure. We had to make a couple big stops at the end and Chas (McFarland) made big free throws."
On his dunk...
"You have to go the hole hard. You have to make that play because guys will try to block shots. I knew he (Gerard Anderson) was going to try and contest it so I had to dunk it. Chas was the first one to run up to me and said `Oh my God! Oh my God! Dun nun nun, dun nun nun (ESPN theme song)."
Junior Center Chas McFarland
On stopping Fullerton's comeback...
"I think we have a lot more maturity this year. We kept our focus and composure and knew if we kept doing the little things and it will work out in the end."
On making free throws at the end...
"I just thought about stepping up and making the free throws. We practice 100 of them on game day so it is just routine now."
