WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Three members of the Wake Forest men's soccer team were called into camps by U.S. Youth National Teams. Ike Opara and Danny Wenzel were selected for the U.S. U-20 training camp, while Nick Millington was called into the U.S. U-18 training camp.

A total of 26 players were called into the U-20 camp, which began on Monday and continues until December 22. Wake Forest was one of only three schools to have two players selected for the camp. North Carolina and UCLA also had two players chosen.

A sophomore from Durham, N.C., Opara was named the 2008 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Named a first team All-American by Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News, Opara helped the Deacons to 14 shutouts during the 2008 season. He also contributed on the offensive end, scoring five goals.

Wenzel was one of the top freshman defenders in the country in 2008. Named to Top Drawer Soccer's All-Rookie Team, the Federal Way, Wash., native played in 21 games and contributed to 14 shutouts. Named to the 2008 ACC All-Freshman Team, Wenzel also scored a goal and added three assists during the 2008 season.

Millington, a freshman defender from Raleigh, N.C., played in 13 games, including one start, during his rookie season. He scored the first goal of his collegiate career against UCLA and also finished the season with one assist.

Bone Named to College Cup All-Tournament Team: Sophomore midfielder Corben Bone was named to the College Cup's All-Tournament Team on Sunday. Bone, a native of Plano, Texas, returned to his hometown to play in the College Cup. Bone finished the season with seven goals and 17 assists, a new school record for most assists in a single season.

Parkhurst signs with Denmark's FC Nordsjaelland: Former Wake Forest standout Michael Parkhurst has signed a contract with FC Nordsjaelland of Denmark's SAS Ligaen starting in January 2009.

Parkhurst has spent the first four years of his professional career with the New England Revolution. The 2005 MLS Rookie of the Year and 2007 MLS Defender of the Year, Parkhurst appeared in 115 games for the Revolution. He also won the MLS Fair Play Awards in 2007 and 2008. Parkhurst was a member of the U.S. Olympic team this past summer in Beijing and started all three contests.

Parkhurst was a member of the Wake Forest men's soccer team from 2002-04. A starter in all 62 games he played, Parkhurst was twice named all-South Region and was a first-team All-America choice by Soccer America in 2004. He was also named a second-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in 2003 and 2004.

Riley drafted by Seattle Sounders FC: Former Demon Deacon James Riley was selected by the Seattle Sounders FC of the MLS in the 2008 expansion draft. Riley has also been a member of the New England Revolution and the San Jose Earthquakes during his professional career. Most recently with the Earthquakes, Riley played in 24 games, including 23 starts, with two assists during the 2008 season.

Riley played in 82 games during his career at Wake Forest. Riley helped Wake Forest to 11 shutouts during the 2002 season and served as a team captain during his senior season in 2004.
