Basketball Game Notes - No. 10 Wake Forest at Richmond

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - No. 10-ranked Wake Forest will play its first true road game of the season when the Demon Deacons travel to Richmond on Friday, Dec. 19. The game, which is set to tip-off at 7 p.m., will be televised by ESPNU and will also be available on the Wake Forest ISP Radio Network.

The Deacons have started the season 9-0 and are coming off a 66-53 win against Wright State on Sunday afternoon at Joel Coliseum. Wake Forest was coming off a seven-day break for final exams.

Harvey Hale led the Deacs with a season-high 17 points off the bench. Hale went 5-for-6 from three-point range and made each his first five attempts from beyond the arc.

Jeff Teague, who leads the ACC in scoring, chipped in 10 points, while L.D. Williams added 11 for his fourth straight game in double figures.

Richmond is 5-4 on the season following a narrow 77-76 loss to VCU last Saturday at the Robins Center. The Spiders are 3-1 at home this year. David Gonzalvez leads Richmond with 17.7 points per game, while 2008 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Kevin Anderson averages 16.7 points per game.

Wake Forest leads the all-time series with Richmond by a 36-9 margin. The Deacons have won 15 straight against the Spiders, including six straight in Richmond. The two teams are meeting for the eighth time in the past nine seasons.

Quickie Notes
- Wake Forest has won 34 straight games against non-conference opponents from the state of Virginia. The Deacons' last non-ACC loss to the state came in 1989-90 at Richmond.
- The Deacons will play three of their next four games on the road. In addition to the Richmond game, Wake will play at 8-1 East Carolina and 10-0 Brigham Young.

Next Up...
Wake will play its second straight road game when the Demon Deacons travel to East Carolina on Monday, Dec. 22. After a brief holiday break, the Deacons will then return home to host Radford on Dec. 30.
