WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The undefeated Wake Forest women's basketball team will host UNC Wilmington on January 1. The special New Years Day event will be the last home appearance before the Demon Deacons' three-game road swing that kicks off conference season.

On December 30 UNC Wilmington (6-4) dropped a ten point contest to Western Carolina on the road. Forward Brittany Blackwell led both teams with 23 points but it wasn't enough for the inconsistent Seahawks who shot 52 percent in first half but just 30 percent in second.

The Demon Deacons (11-0) topped East Tennessee State on December 28 to set a new win-streak record. Sophomore guard Brittany Waters posted her third consecutive game with 19 or more points.

On January 6 the Richmond Spiders will host Wake Forest at 7 p.m. to finish out the majority of Wake's non-conference contests. On January 8 the No. 14/16 Maryland Terrapins will open Atlantic Coast Conference play with the Deacs at Comcast Center. Wake will end the road stretch on January 11 with No. 16/15 Virginia.
