
Basketball Game Notes - No. 15 Wake Forest vs. Bucknell

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - No. 15-ranked Wake Forest will look to extend its winning streak, as the Demon Deacons host the Bucknell Bison on Saturday, Dec. 6. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum. The game will be available on the Wake Forest ISP Radio Network.
The Deacons (7-0) are coming off an 83-58 defeat of Indiana on Wednesday in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Wake Forest upped its record to 8-1 all-time in the Challenge with its second victory over IU.
James Johnson led the way with 21 points, 15 of which came in the first half. L.D. Williams chipped in 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting.
Al-Farouq Aminu scored 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Jeff Teague finished with 13 points despite going scoreless in the first half.
Bucknell (1-5) comes to town following a 68-65 loss at La Salle on Tuesday. The Bison will be playing their second ACC team this season after opening the year with an 81-52 setback at Maryland. Bucknell's lone win on the season came in double overtime last week against Old Dominion.
Wake Forest has won all four meetings with Bucknell. The all-time series dates back to 1973-74. The teams have met each of the past two seasons. Two years ago, the Deacons became the first-ever ACC team to play on Bucknell's campus.
Quickie Notes
- Since last season's meeting with Bucknell, Jeff Teague has scored in double figures in 26 of 29 games and is averaging 17.1 points per game during the stretch. Teague entered the Bucknell game last year averaging 7.5 points per contest.
- Wake has started the season 7-0 for the first time since 2003-04, for the 10th time in the modern era and for the 12th time overall in program history.
Next Up...
Wake Forest will have seven days off for final exams before returning to action against Wright State on Sunday, Dec. 14, at Joel Coliseum. The game will be televised nationally on FSN. The Deacs will then play at Richmond on Dec. 19 and at ECU on Dec. 22.
