WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will host Coppin State on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m.
Coppin State (0-5) will be looking for its first win of 2008-09. The Eagles recently fell 64-46 at Drake. Forward Danielle Anders was the game's scoring leader with 13 points and star center Whitney Cunningham led the Eagles on the boards with eight rebounds and also registered four blocks.
Coppin State is the second team on the Deacon slate that earned a berth in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. The Eagles were defeated in the first round by top-ranked Maryland 80-66. Miami of Ohio, who Wake Forest faced on November 29, also earned an invitation to last year's tournament after taking the Mid American conference title.
The Demon Deacons (6-0) enter the game with a win over South Carolina earlier this week. Alex Tchangoue, Corinne Groves and Brittany Waters all scored in double digits and the team collectively posted a season-low nine turnovers.
After the game Wake Forest will take a break from competition to take care of exams, which begin December 8 and run through the December 11. The team will next face Presbyterian at the Joel Coliseum on Monday, December 15 at 11 a.m.
