3 Deacs Named to ACC All-Academic

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest women's soccer athletes Allie Sadow, Maggie Horne, and Amy Smerdzinski were named to the 2007 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Thursday.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.

2007 marks junior midfielder Amy Smerdzinski's second consecutive appearance on the honor list, while it's the first appearance for sophomore striker Allie Sadow and senior midfielder Maggie Horne.

Smerdzinski finished her junior season with five goals, including two game-winners from the midfield stance. Sadow had six goals and four assists through 23 games. In her final season with the Demon Deacons, Horne played in 22 of the team's 23 games and registered three goals.
