WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's soccer team will open the spring exhibition season on Thursday evening when it plays host to Atlantic Coast Conference rival Duke at 7 p.m. The match at Spry Stadium is free and open to the public.

The contest will mark the Demon Deacons' first public matchup since making Wake Forest history on December 16 with the program's first-ever College Cup title.

When the Deacs faced the Blue Devils during the regular season, Wake Forest posted a 3-0 shutout for the team's first victory in Durham since 2002.

Sophomore goalkeeper Akira Fitzgerald will likely be logging minutes in Wake Forest goal, taking over for graduated senior Brian Edwards who was drafted by Toronto FC in January.

WFU fans may also see two new faces on pitch, freshmen defender/midfielders Danny Wenzel and Chris Estridge who began classes in January.

On March 29, Jay Vidovich's squad will continue spring play when they host High Point at noon. The team will immediately hit the road for 7 p.m. kick-off with the Carolina Railhawks in Cary, N.C.
