Wake Forest head coach Jim Grobe put the Demon Deacon football team through a second day of spring drills on Thursday at the Doc Martin Football Practice Complex on the Wake Forest campus.
Practicing in jerseys, helmets and shorts, the Deacons went through 105 minutes of offensive, defensive and special teams drills in front of a large collection of high school coaches. The Wake Forest coaching staff is hosting nearly 200 high school coaches from throughout the Southeast for its annual coaching clinic.
The prep coaches will listen to the Wake Forest coaches discuss different aspects of the football program from how to stop the run to tips on running an effective strength and conditioning program.
On the field on Thursday, Grobe and his staff put the Deacons through the paces as they continue to prepare for the 2008 season.
"I feel pretty good about our starters," said Grobe. "Our starters are not a concern. But we're really looking (to be) two deep at every position. We want to come out of spring knowing who our top 44 players are."
The Deacons will practice Saturday morning at the Doc Martin Complex. The team is scheduled to hit the field at approximately 10:20 a.m. and practice from 10:30 until 12:15 p.m.
