Gary Clark Named to 2008 All-ACC Academic Team

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest freshman guard Gary Clark has been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Friday.
Clark, who has yet to declare a major in his first year on campus, is one of eight student-athletes on the team. He is the only freshman to be named to the squad.
Clark has appeared in 22 games off the bench this season, averaging 2.6 points per game.
He is the first Wake Forest freshman to be named to the All-ACC Academic Team since Chris Paul and Kyle Visser earned the honor in 2003-04. Clark, Paul and Visser are the only Deacons to be named to the team in the past five seasons.
Clark is the sixth freshman in Wake Forest history to be named to the All-ACC Academic Team since the award's inception in 1963. He joins Jerry Montgomery (1968-69), Tom Wise (1987-88), Broderick Hicks (1998-99), Chris Paul (2003-04) and Kyle Visser (2003-04) on the list.
Overall, Clark is the 18th Demon Deacon to be named to the team.
The 2007-08 All-ACC Academic Team also includes Cliff Hammonds of Clemson, Ben McCauley of NC State, Jack McClinton of Miami, Jerome Meyinsse of Virginia, Greg Paulus of Duke, Matt Zitani of Florida State and Brian Zoubek of Duke.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
