For the second time in as many seasons, junior Brendan Gielow has been selected to the All-ACC Academic Men's Golf Team, announced Wednesday by Commissioner John Swofford.

To be eligible for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

Ten golfers from the 20-member team are repeat honorees from the 2007 All-ACC Academic team, which includes Boston College's James Granello, Jan Prokop and Robert Reed, Clemson's Ben Martin, Duke's Adam Long, Georgia Tech's Taylor Hall and Cameron Tringale, North Carolina's Barden Berry, Virginia Tech's Jurrian van der Vaart and Gielow from Wake Forest.

Gielow, who is double-majoring in Mathematics and Religion, was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic District III Second Team in May and carries a 3.67 grade point average.

Gielow was also recognized as the top academic performer on the golf team at the Wake Forest academic awards banquet last month and has been on the Dean's List all four of his semesters at Wake Forest.

Gielow received recognition this year for his strong play on the course when the Golf Coaches Association of America selected the Michigan-native to the PING All-Region South Team.

Gielow recorded two top 10 finishes and four top 15 finishes for the Demon Deacons last season and held the 11th-best stroke average in the ACC at 72.5 strokes per 18 holes.
