Four Deacons Named Preseason All-Americans by Soccer America

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Four members of the Wake Forest men's soccer team were named Preseason All-Americans by Soccer America on Wednesday morning. Seniors Sam Cronin and Marcus Tracy and sophomore Ike Opara were named to the first team, while junior Cody Arnoux was selected to the second team.
Cronin has also been named to the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Watch List and a preseason First Team All-American by College Soccer News. One of the top midfielders in the country, Cronin was named an NSCAA Second Team All-American after the 2007 season. The Winston-Salem native has played and started every game in his career at Wake Forest and has compiled seven goals and 15 assists in his career.
Tracy has also been named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List and was a preseason First Team All-American selection by College Soccer News. A forward from Newtown, Conn., Tracy opened the 2008 season in strong fashion, posting three goals in Wake's two exhibition contests. Tracy finished the 2007 season second on the team in goals, assists and points. Tracy was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the 2007 College Cup after scoring three goals, including two in Wake Forest's semifinal win over Virginia Tech.
A sophomore defender from Durham, N.C., Opara was named to the 2007 ACC All-Freshman Team and also earned Soccer America First Team All-Freshman. Opara was part of a defense in 2007 that finished the season with a school-record 16 shutouts.
Arnoux led Wake Forest in goals (15) and points (38) in 2007. A 2008 Hermann Trophy nominee, Arnoux posted three goals in the 2008 exhibition season, including scoring the game winner in each contest. The Wilmington, N.C. native was also named a preseason Second Team All-American by College Soccer News.
Wake Forest opens the regular season on Friday in Chapel Hill, N.C. against VCU in the Nike Carolina Classic. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (ET).
