WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Two former Wake Forest women's soccer standouts are making their mark overseas, playing professionally in Sweden. Elizabeth Remy and Alena Thom are currently playing for Danmarks IF in Sweden's North Division I League.
The two former Deacons have made impacts for their professional team, which currently stands in fifth place in the league that consists of 12 teams. Remy leads the team in goals with eight, while Thom was recently tabbed as the best player on the field by a local newspaper following one of the games.
Remy has spent most of her time, playing at a forward position, but has spent some time in the midfield. Thom has been playing both offensive and defensive center-mid positions.
Remy and Thom were both four-year letter winners while at Wake Forest. Remy still holds the single-season record for assists with 11, and ranks second in career assists with 22. Thom earned all-Atlantic Coast Conference honors during her senior year of 2003.
