
Wake Forest Golf Holds Alumni Legacy Challenge Golf Tournament

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest golf program will hold its first Alumni Legacy Challenge Golf Tournament Monday morning, Sept. 29 at the Old Town Club.
This weekend is Alumni Weekend on campus with the Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony kicking things off Friday night. The festivities continue with the football game against Navy Saturday afternoon and will culminate for the golfers with the Legacy Challenge on Monday. The format for the challenge is a 4-person scramble beginning with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
There will be approximately 70 former team members from the 1950s through 2007 coming back for the weekend with some of them coming from as far as California and Spain.
One of the former players coming back is current PGA professional Len Mattiace, who will become the 16th former men's golfer inducted into the Wake Forest Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday.
Other golf members of the Hall of Fame that will be attending include Lanny Wadkins, Curtis Strange, Scott Hoch, Leonard Thompson, Gary Hallberg and Stephanie Neill-Harner. Current professionals Ron Whittaker, Bill Haas, Kyle Reifers and Webb Simpson will also be in town for the weekend.
Also attending will be former men's coach Jesse Haddock, who guided Wake to its three national championships. Former women's coach Dot Casey and former athletic director Dr. Gene Hooks will also be there on Monday.
