Winslow Named to Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest junior forward Sarah Winslow was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week after scoring three goals and adding an assist in games against Francis Marion and UNC-Wilmington.
After assisting on the game-winning goal against Francis Marion, Winslow scored three times against UNC-Wilmington lead the Deacons to a 5-0 victory. Winslow's first goal of the game came off a beautiful cross from Amanda Lebo and Winslow scored from five yards out. The Wilson, N.C., native scored her second goal in the 69th minute off a cross from Kaley Fountain. Winslow completed the hat trick in the 79th minute. The UNC-Wilmington goalkeeper attempted to clear the ball from 20 yards out. Winslow jumped and deflected the ball back into the net to score her third goal of the game.
Through three games, Winslow is tied for the team lead in goals with three and is second on the team in points with seven.
Deacons Move up in National Polls: After posting two victories last weekend, the Wake Forest women's soccer team has moved up in the national rankings. The Deacs moved up five spots to No. 10 in the Soccer Buzz poll. Wake Forest is ranked 14th in the latest Soccer America poll, while the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and adidas place the Deacons at No. 17 in the country.
Wake Forest returns to action this weekend at the Hawthorne Suites Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. The Deacons face George Washington on Friday at 3:30 p.m. (ET) and Texas A&M on Sunday at 11 a.m. (ET).
