- Wake Forest improves to 17-1 overall and 4-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, while Duke drops to 18-2 and 5-1 in league play.
- The Blue Devils still lead the overall series 155-77, but Wake Forest has won two straight meetings in the series and five of the last six games played at the Joel Coliseum.
- With the win, Wake Forest improves to 250-56 at the Joel Coliseum, winning nearly 82 percent of the games played in the Joel.
- The Deacs are now 5-24 all-time against the top-ranked team in the country. Before tonight, Wake's last win against a No. 1 team cam on February 23, 1992, when Wake Forest defeated Duke 72-68.

- Key Run: With the game tied at 68 with two seconds remaining, L.D. Williams inbounded the ball to James Johnson, who scored the game-winning layup with 0.8 left to give Wake a 70-68 lead.
- Key Stat: The Wake Forest defense held the Duke offense in check for most of the game. The Blue Devils shot only 33.3 percent (22-of-66) from the field and 18.2 percent (4-of-22) from beyond the arc. Wake has held its opponent to under 40 percent shooting in 13 games this season.
- Duke won the rebounding battle, out-boarding the Demon Deacons 47-43. Wake Forest is 5-0 when getting out rebounded by its opponent.
- Wake Forest controlled the paint, outscoring Duke 42-24 in the paint. Wake has outscored its opponent in the paint in all but one game this season.
- Wake Forest shot 40.3 percent (25-of-62) from the field and 20 percent (2-of-10) from the three-point line.

Wake Forest Individual Notes
- Sophomore forward James Johnson notched the fifth double-double of the season and 13th of his career with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson scored the game-winning basket with less than a second remaining in the contest. Johnson also tied a career-high with four blocked shots.
- Freshman forward Al-Farouq Aminu scored a team-high 15 points with 10 rebounds to record the seventh double-double of his rookie season. Aminu also added two blocks, two assists and one steal.
- Sophomore guard Jeff Teague was the third Demon Deacon in double figures, adding 11 points. Teague has scored in double figures in every game this season and has a streak of 22 straight games with at least 10 points dating back to last season.
- Junior center Chas McFarland scored nine points and brought down seven rebounds.
