WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will play the first of two consecutive road games as the Deacons travel to Clemson on Saturday, Oct. 17 for a noon kickoff with the Tigers. The game will be broadcast regionally on the syndicated Raycom network and will also be available on the Wake Forest ISP Radio Network.
The Deacons enter Saturday's game at 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the ACC. Winners of its last two ACC contests, Wake Forest is all alone in first place in the Atlantic Division, a half-game ahead of BC (2-2) and Maryland (1-1).
The Deacons are coming off a 42-32 win over Maryland where Wake compiled 516 yards of total offense, its greatest offensive performance in four seasons. QB Riley Skinner threw for 360 yards, as he became the school's all-time leader in career passing yards.
Clemson had an open date on Oct. 10 and has not played since suffering a 24-21 loss at Maryland on Oct. 3.
The Tigers lead the all-time series with the Deacons, 56-17-1. Wake Forest won last season's meeting, 12-7, on Oct. 9 in Winston-Salem.
Quickie Notes
- QB Riley Skinner is fifth in the nation in passing efficiency this week with a 163.05 rating. Skinner became Wake's all-time passing yardage leader with 360 yards vs. Maryland last week, pushing his career total to 8,296.
- John Russell was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week after his six-tackle, two-sack effort against Maryland last week.
- Wake Forest's senior class raised its four-year record to 32-14. That ties the record for the most victories ever by a Wake Forest class.
Next Up...
Wake will play its second consecutive road game when it visits the U.S. Naval Academy on Oct. 24. It will be the fourth meeting between the Deacons and the Midshipmen since the start of the 2007 season. In fact, Wake Forest will have played Navy four times since it last met either Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech in a regular season ACC game. The analyst for the CBS College Sports broadcast will be Randy Cross, the father of Wake freshman QB Brendan Cross.
