WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's soccer team will host Grassroot Soccer Night as part of the third-ranked Demon Deacons' showdown with No. 5 Maryland on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
Fans will have the opportunity to bid on commemorative Grassroot Soccer jerseys during a silent auction, which will be held during the game. All proceeds from the silent auction will go to benefit Grassroot Soccer, which is an organization that uses the power of soccer in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
Founded by former professional soccer players in 2002, Grassroot Soccer provides youth worldwide with the knowledge, life skills and support to live healthier lives. Students gain this knowledge through Grassroot Soccer's "SKILLZ" curriculum with topics including making healthy decisions, avoiding risks, building support networks, reducing stigma and discrimination, increasing knowledge about testing and treatment, addressing gender issues, and assessing values.
