WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Senior forward Zack Schilawski received national recognition for the third time this season on Monday when he was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
Schilawski was honored by Top Drawer Soccer twice earlier in the season. He received recognition following his hat trick against Virginia Tech and again after his play against UNC Greensboro and North Carolina.
A native of Cary, N.C., Schilawski scored three of Wake Forest's four goals on the week. Against South Carolina, Schilawski recorded his second multi-goal game of the season, scoring the game-winning goal in the ninth minute and adding an insurance goal in the 59th minute.
Schilawski scored the only goal of the match in Wake's 1-0 win against No. 5 Maryland on Saturday. The 2009 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award finalist scored a penalty kick goal in the sixth minute against the Terps to lift Wake Forest into a tie for first in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
With his three goals on the week, Schilawski now leads the conference with nine goals and 22 points on the season. Of his nine goals, four of them have been game winners. He has also added four assists, which ranks in a tie for eighth in the league.
For his career, Schilawski has scored 35 goals, placing him in a tie for fourth in school history. He also has 87 points, which ranks fifth in the Wake Forest record books.
Wake Forest is back in action on Tuesday night when it closes non-conference play against Davidson. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start at Spry Stadium.
