GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior forward Zack Schilawski was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week after scoring three goals in a pair of Wake Forest wins last week.
Schilawski becomes the second straight Demon Deacon to receive the weekly award from the conference office. Austin da Luz was named ACC Player of the Week last week.
Schilawski was also named to Soccer America's National Team of the Week on Tuesday.
A finalist for the 2009 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, Schilawski scored three of Wake Forest's four goals last week and led the Demon Deacons to a pair of wins. Schilawski recorded his second multi-goal game of the season in a 3-0 win at South Carolina, scoring the game-winning goal in the ninth minute and adding a second goal in the 59th minute.
Schilawski also tallied the game-winning goal in Wake's 1-0 victory against then-No. 5 Maryland. The Cary, N.C., native scored the only goal of the match on a penalty kick in the sixth minute. The victory against the Terrapins moved Wake Forest into a tie for first in the conference.
For the season, Schilawski has scored an ACC-best nine goals, including four game winners, and 22 points. He also ranks in the top 10 in the league in assists with four helpers.
Schilawski continues to move up several Wake Forest career record lists. He currently has 35 goals, which ranks fourth in school history, and also has 87 points, which is fifth in school annals. Schilawski played in his 90th career game against Maryland, ranking him sixth in Wake Forest history.
Wake Forest is back in action at Spry Stadium on Tuesday night, hosting Davidson in its final non-conference match of the 2009 regular season. The Deacs and Wildcats kick off at 7 p.m.
