Riley Skinner Sets More School Records
- Senior QB Riley Skinner completed 31 of 45 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns. Skinner set a career-high in pass attempts and passing yards and tied his career-high for TD passes.
- Skinner for touchdown passes in a career. His third TD pass of the game, a 25-yarder to Chris Givens with 10:05 to play in the fourth, was his 45th career TD pass. He broke the record of 44 which was shared by Brian Kuklick (1994-98) and Gary Schofield (1981-83).
- Skinner also set the Wake Forest record for career total offense yards. With 328 total offensive yards vs. NC State, Skinner now has 8,041 for his career. That tops the previous record of 7,838 set by Kuklick.
- Skinner is 81 passing yards from becoming Wake Forest's all-time leader. Skinner has 7,936 career passing yards, and Kuklick currently holds the record with 8,017.
- Skinner has thrown for 1,004 yards over his past three games (289 vs. Elon, 354 at BC, 361 vs. NC State). His previous best three-game total was 830 from the Stanford, Elon and Boston College games this season.
- Skinner has thrown at least one touchdown pass in six straight games, dating back to last season. This streak equals the longest of his career.
Marshall Williams Hauls in Two Touchdown Catches
- WR Marshall Williams caught six passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns. It was the first multiple-TD game of his career.
- Williams has caught a touchdown pass in three straight games. - Over his last two games, Williams has 18 catches for 252 yards and three TDs.
Defense Produces Three Turnovers
- The Wake Forest defense forced three turnovers on the day. The Deacons got two interceptions and a fumble recovery.
- The Deacon defense entered the game with three takeaways total.
- Josh Bush's 61-yard interception return was the 13th-longest in school history.
- Bush's and Kenny Okoro's interceptions were the first of their careers.
Wake Ends Wilson's Streak
- NC State quarterback Russell Wilson had attempted an NCAA record 379 passes without an interception until Josh Bush picked him off in the second quarter. Bush returned the interception 61 yards.
- The Deacons also picked off Wilson again late in the fourth quarter. CB Kenny Okoro picked him off in the end zone with 2:02 to play in the game.
- Wilson now has three career interceptions, two of which came in today's game.
Deacons Get Many Happy Returns
- Wake Forest turned in some of its longest kickoff and punt returns of the season. The Deacons had two punt returns for 40 yards and five kickoff returns for 177 yards.
- Devon Brown had punt returns of 23 and 17 yards. His 23-yarder was the longest by a Deacon since 2007.
- Chris Givens returned four kickoffs for 97 yards total. Lovell Jackson returned his only kick for 80 yards to set up Wake Forest's final field goal.
Miscellaneous Notes
- Wake Forest's game captains were #8 Geoff Wissing and #70 Chris DeGeare.
- Wake lost the coin toss for the third straight game and received the opening kickoff for the third straight time.
- Cline Beam's touchback on the kickoff to start the second half was his seventh of the year. That ties the team total for touchbacks in all of 2008.
- CB Dominique Tate saw his first action of the season on defense. The true freshman corner had not played in Wake's first four games. He is the third true freshman to see action for the Deacons this season and the 16th in Jim Grobe's tenure at Wake.
- LB Dominique Midgett suffered a dislocated right shoulder and will have an MRI on Monday.
- Today's attendance of 33,921 was the 13th-largest crowd in BB&T Field history.
- Five of the last six games with NC State have been decided by eight or fewer points.
- NC State has sacked Skinner 13 times in the last three games.
