Wake Forest quarterback Riley Skinner on Monday was named the ACC Offensive Back of the Week by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Skinner, a 6-1, 210-pound redshirt senior from Jacksonville, FL (The Bolles School), completed 31 of 45 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns in Wake's 30-24 win over NC State on Oct. 5. Skinner set career-highs with the 45 attempts and the 361 yards passing. He has now set a career high in passing yards in three straight games.
Skinner threw 4-yard TD pass to Marshall Williams in the second quarter that tied the game at 10. Skinner then threw an 11-yard TD pass to Williams midway through the third quarter that put Wake ahead 20-10. Skinner also hit Chris Givens with a 25-yard TD pass on a third-and-23 early in the fourth quarter that put Wake ahead 27-17.
In the process, Skinner set the school record for TD passes in a career with 45 and also became the school's career leader in total offense with 8,041 yards.
For Skinner, it marks his seventh ACC Player of the Week honor. He was the conference's Rookie of the Week three times during the 2006 season and earned Offensive Back of the Week honors twice in 2008 after wins over Baylor and Ole Miss. Skinner was the Offensive Back of the Week earlier this season after he led the Deacons to a come-from-behind win over Stanford on Sept. 12.
