WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team has revealed its 2009 signing class, which includes four talented athletes from North Carolina and Georgia.

"We're very happy with the signing class. We really feel like we're bringing in four quality individuals who are outstanding athletes, very strong in the classroom and very good people," Wake Forest head coach Mike Petersen said.

"We feel like we signed a group that addresses position needs. We're really happy with this group as a whole."

Chelsea Douglas is a fast, athletic point guard out of Charlotte, N.C. In 2008-09 Douglas helped lead Hickory Grove Baptist High School to a 30-1 record and the North Carolina State 3-A Championship, averaging just over 20 points per game.

"Chelsea Douglas is a very good point guard with good straight line speed. She's very good with the ball and certainly will be able to come in and play the style we want to play at the pace we want to play. She's really a gym rat, she really loves the game and had as a skill set that fits very well with what we do," Petersen said.

Erin Hall is sharp shooter from Norcoss, Ga., averaging 14.4 points per game with a 36 percent shooting percentage from the 3-point line. Hall hails from Wesleyan High School, a consistent perennial power in the ultra-competitive Atlanta area.

"Erin Hall is out of a great high school program. She's been very well coached in high school, she's a great shooter. We really wanted to sign somebody in this class that can shoot the ball from 3-point range and she can definitely do that," Petersen said.

The Demon Deacon inked two players to fill roles in the frontcourt.

Jaymee Carnes is six-foot-one power forward from Gainesville, Ga. She averaged 16 points per game and eight rebounds in 2008-09 with Gainesville High School. In 2008 The Gainesville Times named her Player of the Year.

"Jaymee Carnes a very skilled at the perimeter-post, a power forward. She can shoot the ball from range and she is a great passer. She's very versatile. She can play on the block, she can play outside, she's got good size and really understands the game."

At six-foot-four, Lindsy Wright, from Denver, N.C., is the tallest member of the 2009 Wake Forest signing class. In 2008-09 she averaged over 23 points per game with a 61 percent field goal percentage and averaged 11 rebounds.

"Lindsy Wright is very strong and very athletic in the post. She's a great rebounder, a very good defender, she can really score around the basket and 15 feet or so. She's a very good athlete," Petersen said.

"These players have come out of programs that are very good programs. Chelsea and Erin teams' won the state championship last year and Gainesville is a perennial team down in Georgia," Petersen said. "They're kids that have had good coaching, they've been in good programs and they are used to winning. They will come in ready to be coached and they'll come in ready to do the work that needs to be done."
