Winston-Salem, NC - Joel Coliseum
William & Mary 78, Wake Forest 68

Wake Forest Head Coach Dino Gaudio

Opening statement...
"It was a difficult loss for us. I thought that when it all came down to it, we did a good job of guarding their actions, but 12 seconds and under they just beat us on the bounce. They beat us off the dribble one-on-one. Give a lot of credit to William & Mary; I thought they played really well. They're a really well-coached basketball team. They executed when they had to. They hit a couple deep threes when they had to when the shot clock was winding down. It's a good win for them. I'm not happy with the loss, but this business is all about dealing with adversity and getting back to work, and that's what we'll do tomorrow."

On Tony Woods not getting many minutes...
"I thought that with their offense we wanted to play our veteran post players. Chas and David have guarded that stuff before. The guy guarding the post man is really an important guy in that defense. All week I thought they guarded it better and having those two guys out there was our best chance of winning, especially on the defensive end."

On whether there is an alternative to shooting a lot of three-pointers against a packed zone...
"We didn't move enough in the first half; we were standing around too much. Maybe take 10 of those threes off of there, it's still too many. When we shot 13 at the half I said we were shooting too many threes. Once again we have to know who we are. Farouq was 0-7 from three and (Williams) was 0-2, but some of those were at the end of the game. When we're playing a team like that, we have to exert our will inside on them and we didn't do that, even on the offensive boards early in the first half."

William & Mary Head Coach Tony Shaver

Opening statement...
"Simply put, I couldn't be prouder of a basketball team and the way they performed today. It was a tough environment and our guys stood their ground and played very well in key situations."

On forcing Wake Forest to score from the outside...
"Their strength is inside, and one of the things we try to do defensively is take our opponents' strength away. We wanted them to score over the top of us. They can shoot jump shots. I thought that we held our own on the boards. We lost the battle 39-34 I believe, but we really battled hard inside. You've got two guys with ten rebounds and our starting center was in foul trouble. David Schneider, what a tough young guy. I've never seen more courage from a kid than he displays on the floor; he had 10 rebounds from our guard spot as well."
