Bone Named M.A.C. Hermann Trophy Finalist

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Wake Forest junior midfielder Corben Bone was named one of three finalists for the 2009 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy, as announced on Friday.
Joining Bone in the final three are Andre Akpan of Harvard and Teal Bunbury of Akron.
The three finalists were chosen out of a group of 15 semifinalists. The winner of the award will be announced on January 8, 2010, in St. Louis, Mo., at the Missouri Athletic Club.
A native of Plano, Texas, Bone is looking to become the second straight Wake Forest player to claim the award. Last year, the Deacs had two of three finalists, including Marcus Tracy, who became the first Wake player to win the award. Sam Cronin was also a finalist.
The 2009 Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Bone has scored two goals and added 13 assists during his junior season. Bone ranks eighth nationally in assists per game and is second in the ACC in helpers. Bone, who was named Top Drawer Soccer's National Player of the Year in 2009, has 38 assists in his career, ranking him second in school history. He also is in the top 10 in school annals in points with 66 career points.
Considered the highest individual honor in college soccer, the recipient of the Hermann Trophy is selected by Division I head coaches who are current members of the NSCAA.
Wake Forest is in action on Friday night, facing No. 3 Virginia in the College Cup semifinals. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (ET) at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., and the game will be shown live on ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN360.
